    Hi

I'm not sure if anyone else went to this year's event but it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening ( I went on Saturday night and it was well attended)
Thanks to everyone at the NRM and all the lighting teams for all the hard work that had been put in to make the event such a sucess. Lots of nice piccies on the NRM flickr site for those of you interested in photography.

Only 2 things came to mind that could have improved the event in my opinion.

Firstly : There was the lack of toilet facilties in the main area (I suspect the back section of the main hall near the shop was shut for Health & Safety reasons due to the amount of cabling etc).
I had a wheelchair user with me so asked if it was OK to use the loos near the main entrance (there was another special event on and this didn't seem to be encouraged). First time visitors to the museum may not have realised that there was a toilet in the south entrance area (assuming this entrance was open). A notice to this effect woudl have been a help.

Secondly: With the audience all having to pass the NRM staff to enter the museum and pass again to leave, I was a bit suprised to see no Gift Aid envelopes available on the collection box (to make the most of any donations given on the evening- mine included) nor was there any notice of any sort clearly visible near the exit explaining that although it was a free event any donations would be welcome. A bit of an oportunity missed.

Otherwise a very enjoyable and atmospheric event - well worth going. Highly recommended. I'm looking forwards to next years one.

    Hi
I just spotted thus on the NRM website:

    Update 7 Nov:
thanks to everyone who came along: over 2000 people attended. The judge's choice of winner was Coppernob by Rose Bruford College, and the public’s choice was Chinese Locomotive by York College. You can see photos of the event on Flickr.

Looks like the event was well attended. I hope another one will be run next year. The youth of today get a lot of bad publicity in the media but an event like this one really showcases what talent there is today in our young folks. Nice pickies of the event on the NRM flickr group too.
