A locomotive, which has done more miles on the Severn Valley Railway (SVR) than any other, bowed out over the weekend after nearly 40 years in service there.

The '8F' has covered nearly 152,000 miles (244,620km) between Bridgnorth, Shrops and Kidderminster, Worcs. But it has hardly travelled since floods damaged the railway last summer. The steam engine is being retired at the end of its 10-year "boiler MoT" certificate and is set to be on display at the SVR's new £5m visitor centre.
