M Class pacific at the Tanfield

    Can anyone tell me what is happening with the lovely Tasmanian M Class 4-6-2 at Marley Hill on the Tanfield Railway?

    Who owns it and what are the plans for it? I saw it in April: http://www.flickr.com/photos/graham_williams/5759338412/in/photostream

    It looks in a sorry state. There is a link on this page to show what it looked like in Tasmania. From photos I've seen, it appears to have been untouched for years. It appears to be deteriorating (this is only from a passing look, of course). I realise that it is narrow gauge and will never run in the UK, but what about a decent restoration for a static exhibit?
    Mind you with the number of unrestored locos in Marley Hill yard, I guess it's at the back of a long queue.

    Yes I am an active volunteer
    Its owned by a private individual who also owns several other locos at Tanfield, all non runners. I think the idea was to cosmetically restore it and put it in the intended new museum down at East Tanfield.
