Major station upgrade completed in Paris

SNCF is celebrating the opening of 16 refurbished stations along the RER B metro line out of Paris.

Since 2008, around 600 million euro has been spent modernising the commuter line – half of which is operated by SNCF and half of which is operated by RATP.

The line, which opened in 1982, connects Charles de Gaulle Airport to the north of Paris and Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse in the south west.

As well as investment to upgrade infrastructure along the route, a unified body is being set up to simplify the line’s management.

Work will continue between now and 2015 upgrading more of the stations and updating the interiors of 119 trains.
