A Deltic is hauling Mallard from York to Grantham today (Wed 4th) for the weekend and returning to York on Monday.

The National Railway Museum at York has already received world-wide interest and now a partnership including South Kesteven District Council, Lincolnshire County Council, and major sponsor Carillion Rail (the company that will re-lay the track), in co-operation with East Coast, Network Rail and the National Railway Museum will enable the Mallard to go on show close to the railway station.

When this event was first mentioned I thought perhaps, the locos would be stabled in a bay platform at Grantham station, but reading the above, obviously not.

Indeed LNERCA are planning not only to "fundraise" at the event, but, also hopefully provide a refreshment service too. They will also understandably be advertising the NYMR their home base and the fact that it is possible to travel in teak coaches on the Moors behind A4 Sir Nigel Gresley sister of Mallard.

Fortunately I was able to see Mallard arrive today in very warm sunny weather (not promised for the weekend!) pulled by D&CR 56311 and Deltic 55019 Royal HighlandFusilier trailing. Lots of welcomers present. Sorry don't have a clue how to attach a photo.
