    Mangapps Railway are holding their annual August Gala over the Bank Holiday Weekend and, in response to a number of requests, will also be running a special diesel event over the previous weekend, 22nd & 23rd.

    The 22nd/23rd will feature Mangapps' "big" diesels, 47 579 "James Nightall G.C." and 31 430 "Sister Dora", though some of the ubiquitous 03s will also be operating. We hope to do some interesting and unusual things, such as an air-braked freight, and an Anglo-Canadian freight train!

    Saturday, 29th will be all diesel, featuring the 47 and 31 plus 03s 081, 089 and 197, D2325, Elland No 1, Ruston & Hornsby DS 48 and, for the first time in several years, Army 226.
    Sunday 30th & Bank Holiday Monday will feature all the above, plus steam, in the form of Barclay 0-4-0ST "Fambridge". As usual, a variety of interesting and unusual rolling stock will be in use.

    Just to confirm that 47 579 and 31 430 will be working most services at Mangapps this weekend (22nd/23rd August).

    As both locos are currently air-brake only, all our a/b rolling stock will be in service- Cl. 302s, Mk.1 FK, Canadian Pacific Railway caboose and a 1980s- style air-braked freight train, with brake-van rides.
