Nearly 30 years after being withdrawn for a 10 yearly overhaul, Marcia is nearly ready to roam the rails again at the KESR. It sems likely the first public display will be at the May Gala (1/2/3 May). To see her alongside 80072 really will be the little and large show!

Here are a couple of pictures of Marcia in the C&W shed being finish painted and lined out.

I don't think I have ever seen any photos of this loco, before preservation, working at Hardman & Holden, Salford. Anyone know of any published?

Looks like a small Peckett day could be on the cards. Would look great to compare Marcia with 2012/41 Teddy from the Lavender Line, and perhaps the 'Flying Bufferbeam' from Quainton?

Or how about a 0-4-0 Gala - loads of tiny tank-engines all pulling short trains.

Really useful photos - thank you - I am building a 7mm model of Marcia so these help a lot.

Looking forward to seeing her running this summer I hope.

Whilst Mercia looks a fine little engine, what real use would she be on the KESR, she is not powerful enough to be used on anything other than a token working and engines such as the Norwegan mogol that in my view should be fast tracked make very slow progress , with the valve problems of the P class and possible sale of Charwelton they could very easily find themselves facing a motive power shortage in a few years

I believe Marcia is privately owned and the restoration has largely been carried out by said owner with minimal call on the Kessers resourses. The Norwegian Mogul again is owned by a trust not the KESR so some delay maybe fund raising? If you are that concerned, how about setting up a fund to buy Charwelton for the railway and guarantee its future there?

Any recent news of Marcia? I believe she was steamed last year but haven't heard any reports of her in use or whether the overhaul is completed.

I thought I read somewhere recently that Charwelton has been sold to the KESR?

Eh? This thread is about Marcia not Charwelton! However, for info, it was reported last year that Charwelton (Manning Wardle 1955/17) had been sold by a private owner to the Rother Valley Railway Trust and the trust agreed it would remain on the K&ESR. I believe the trust was able to make the purchase due to a generous donation from a supporter.

She is still in the yard at Rovenden, when I was last there it appeared visually that there were still a few little bits to finish, Lub pipework etc. I will try and find out more next time I am working there.
