    WINTER LECTURE SERIES 2010-11 - ALTRINCHAM

    The Altrincham Electric Railway Preservation Society (AERPS) is pleased to announce details of its 29th Winter Lecture Series:

    Friday 8th October 2010 "A Tour of South African Railways in the early 1970s (Industrial and Main Line Steam)" a colour slide presentation by Alan Gilbert

    Friday 12th November 2010 "16mm Ciné Films from the 1970s" a miscellany by Richard Greenwood

    Friday 10th December 2010 "Steam Across the Rockies" a DVD presentation of a steam-hauled special train from Calgary to Vancouver and back by Tony Harrison

    Friday 14th January 2011 "Fifty Years of the Crich Tramway Museum" a colour slide presentation by Mike Crabtree

    Friday 11th February 2011 "Red Sea Railway" the Railways of Eritrea" a PowerPoint presentation by Jennie Street (author "Red Sea Railway")

    Friday 11th March 2011 "Steam around Chester from the 1960s onwards", a colour slide presentation by John Feild

    Friday 8th April 2011 "Tornado - A Steam Locomotive for the 21st Century" illustrated presentation by Graham Nicholas (A1 Steam Locomotive Trust)

    Each lecture is held at Altrincham Methodist Church Hall, Barrington Road, Altrincham, Cheshire, WA14 1HF. Car park Springfield Road or short walk from Altrincham Bus/Rail/Metrolink Interchange.

    Talks commence at 7.30 p.m.. Refreshments (coffee/tea and biscuits) are provided inclusive of the admission price.

    Admission costs £3.00 - Free for AERPS members!

    The AERPS owns two 1931 ex-Manchester South Junction & Altrincham Railway coaches which are based at the Midland Railway-Butterley near Ripley in Derbyshire.
