MFV Dates and Details of Steam in Valsesia, Italy 2018

We have just published the now confirmed details of our steam hauled trips in 2018 in Valsesia in conjunction with the FS Foundation'

The dates are:

► All trains for Varallo Sesia leave from Milano stopping at Rho, Magenta, Novara, Romagnano Sesia e Borgosesia.

** The service on Sunday 29th April will leave from an alternative Milan station, which will be advised on the MFV web site and on the Facebook page when available.

Fares - Return Trip
- from Milano, Rho and Magenta € 30,00 (child € 22,00 4-12 years)
- from Novara € 20,00 (child € 15,00 4-12 years)
- from Romagnano Sesia e Borgosesia € 15,00 (child € 10,00 4-12 years)
- Free for children under 4 but not occupying a seat.

Fares include booking fee, tasting samples of local produce during the outbound trip, on board welcome and free guided tour of Varallo and it's monuments by qualified tour guides (in Italian)

Special extras on trains on 29th April, 8th July and 2nd September "IN VIAGGIO CON GAUDENZIO": + € 15,00 supplement ( + € 6,00 child 4-12 years). See below for further details.

Further activities for ticket holders:
Free ascent with the cable car to the Sacro Monte.
Free entrance to the museum Casa Scaglia.
Entrance to the Art Gallery Pinacoteca at € 3,00 (only for trains on 7 October, 21 October and 16 December).

The detailed event programmes are still being worked on and will be published when available through the usual MFV channels

► IN VIAGGIO CON GAUDENZIO: An extraordinary theatrical experience (in Italian) for the pleasure of our travellers. Combining the experience of a steam train ride with re-enactments from the life and times of Gaudenzio Ferrari (b 1476 – d 1546). Actors in traditional costumes will bring to life the works of this Grand Maestro of the Italian renaissance helping visitors to discover Varallo through his key works and monuments. Passengers electing for this experience will be house in separate carriages so as not to disturb other travellers and allow those participating a very personal theatrical experience.

Pre booking is essential and must be made at least one week prior to the chosen travel date

► The service on 16th September from Novara to Domodossola will celebrate the 130th anniversary of the construction of the line, leaving from Novara the train will call at Borgomanero, Orta-Miasino, Omegna and Gravellona Toce.

Fares for complete round trip:
- From Novara e Borgomanero € 30,00 (child € 22,00 4-12 years inclusive)
- From Orta-Miasino, Omegna e Gravellona € 20,00 (child € 15,00 4-12 years inclusive)
- Free for children under 4 but not occupying a seat.

Fares include: Booking fee, reserved seats in vintage coaches, welcome on board, free tasting of local produce at Domodossola station.

The final programme is still be developed and will be published when available through the usual channels. There will be reduction on entry charges to various town museums on production of a valid train ticket.
