    Hi Everyone,

The Special events page on the MHR web site has now been updated with information about the autumn gala. Looks like the S15 from the Bluebell won't be attending the gala. Still looks to be a great gala with the following loco in steam

    925 Cheltenham
    777 Sir Lamiel
    825 S15
    850 Lord Nelson
    31806
    92212
    34007 Wadebridge
    45379

31874 on display in Ropley yard.

Looks bloody good! I see 31874 is going into SR black livery to match 850, 925 and 825. I wonder if the special announcement mentioned on the MHR site about 30777 is regarding the livery?

Sounds great. Nice to hear some cosmetic work on 31874 and matching . Not fussed about 847 not making it as 825's there (although 2 Olive Green S15's double heading would have looked great) and I can see 847 at the Bluebell.

Am I right in saying this is 825's first visit away from the NYMR. Also 777 should be in Malachite Green for the first time in preservation which could be the very special announcement that the MHR website suggests next to 777's entry.

I wonder if the Bluebell will be looking for another hire loco if 847 isn't ready and the MHR are bringing 92212 back for the Gala.

Also don't forget the Real ale coach will also be serving a selection of great ales to help quench your thirst.

The bluebells S15's going to be delayed now as of delays with other overhauls.

This should be an incredible event and I will definitely be up at the MHR for all three days - I edited one of my photographs from RailFest to have 850 to one side (doesn't look right as 850 isn't on rails etc...), and I have to say that together they will look incredible. It will be nice to see 777 in Malachite too, BR green looks really rather dull on an N15. I hope the MHR request that 777 and/or 825 arrive chimney first out of Alresford as I understand 31806 will be turned (facing Alresford) when returning from the SVR, leaving very little facing "the correct way" (only 34007 and possibly 92212).

Out of curiousity, was 30926 Repton requested as well? I heard that the NYMR were approached (I think through another thread, I will post the link if I find it), but I can't remember off the top of my head whether the NYMR have considered it seriously. If anyone has any information, please feel free to reply :) While it would be nice to see two Schools' paired together, I reckon I could wait - this line up looks seriously good as it is!

I believe it will be in an alternate livery to that one shown. That's what HR said anyway :p

Yeah SR also said it would be in SR Malachite Green same as 925. I think SR also suggests that it won't be 777 for very long as its going back to 30777 next year but will retain the Malachite liviery but with British Railway's on the tender.

Probably the wrong technical description, but that is 1930s "Olive" green - as worn by 825. Malachite is the much brighter green warn by 850 (in order to match larger chimney) and 925.

Yeah Olive Green is the Maunsell Colour scheme which 828 had when on the mainline in the 90's and what 825, 1638 and soon 847 carry. Malachite Green is what the Bulleids carried such as 21C123, what 925 currently carries and what 850 had in the 1980's. 850's current liviery has been described as Parsons Green not sure if a repaint is on the cards for Nellie as well.

I hope she has a repaint soon, was up at the MHR with a fellow Nat Pres contributor the other week and only had time for a single shot which was of 850 in the cutting to the north of Medstead. I have uploaded a freeze frame from that clip (will use it in a project I am working on at the minute!), and it shows 850 passing under the bridge I was stood on (ignore the fact that the front of Nellie isn't in the frame, the top of the boiler/firebox is what I wanted to show you all). You can clearly see the colour on the top of the boiler and firebox has faded and in some places been removed altogether. I hope a bit more paint is put on the top of 850, as I thought it looked rather poor...

The image: The parsons green has faded to the grey undercoat - having said that, while appearance is not that good 850 has never sounded so good!

It looks as though it just hasn't been cleaned on top for a while and the clean paint stops where the cleaners could reach???

I did notice on 850 at the weekend that rather a lot of paint has been worn off on her front i.e. the buffer beam.

Could be because it's being regularly used for what it was built for. There are plenty of museums full of dead engines with pristine paintwork if you like that sort of thing.
