Yes, I know we have just had the excellent Spring Gala but there is already a small article about the Autumn Gala in the new issue of The Railway Magazine (out today). The article says the visiting locomotives will provisionally be :

    34046 Braunton
    60163 Tornado
    70000 Britannia.

70000 must be staying a while as she is doing a CE from Alton at the beginning of the month.

The Bluebell Giants of Steam is also on the 26th & 27th October. This could effect attendances at both events.

Seems a bit strange to have 2 locos that have both visited for the same event only 2 years ago. For this weekend I plan to do 1 day at the MHR and 1 day at the Bluebell.Braunton sounds good though.

Ah, but it's all to do with the marketing of the event Dan! Tornado will be in BR Blue livery and Britannia is now in BR Green. Tornado was in BR Green last time she visited and Britannia was in BR Black. Perhaps 60163 and 70000 are coming for contract work again at Ropley which is why they came last time.

Sounds like a good line up for a Alutumn gala. Being a Bulleid fan I would be looking forward to seeing 34046 double heading with 34007. But this is sometime off from happening and things can always change.

Perhaps so. I'll probably go down for this on the Saturday.

A1 website updated: where to travel with Tornado page now confirms 60163 is visiting for this event:

"Tuesday 22nd - Sunday 27th October - The Mid Hants Railway"

I wonder if she will be the only visitor of the three provisionally listed at the top of the thread to make it? 34046 and 70000 are not having much luck lately.

60163 is hauling a postponed Cathedrals Express on the 22nd ( See thread in Whats going on). I was advised in late March that 70000 has been promised to Bluebell for this weekend.

To early to say what is going to happen with the autumn gala. I think it's a wait and see on this one. The MHR web site hasn't got any info about visiting locos for the gala. Maybe we will see a different line up of visiting locos appearing on the web site in the near future if the above locos are unavailable.

I have it from the Gee Gee's mush so to speak that it would be the three loco's as mentioned in the OP - three loco's, one LE movement = much reduced movement cost.

But as has been said, lets wait and see............................................................ lots could change between now and then!

Interesting as many of us at the Bluebell are under the impression that Britannia has been promised to us in October for the Giants gala which is on the same weekend.

David, I also heard at the MHR that Britannia will not be coming to the Bluebell in Autumn .

Where does that leave the Bluebells "Giants Of Steam" then?

    Regards

Yes that's a very good question, originally I thought the line-up was going to be 1638, 847, 92212 along with Britannia and probably the red Prairie thing. Now with Britannia not coming, some doubt over whether 1638 will last much longer and also rumour that 92212 will be heading back to the MHR at the end of the Summer rather than staying till October does make me wonder just what "Giant" locos will be used for our gala?

Almost, not quite, Chris, 60163 is owned by the A1 Trust, all three loco's are/will be Southall based, so one pathing move, three loco's = cheap movement cost................................................. and from what I recall, this line up was agreed in principle last year, so where 70000 going to the Bluebell comes from - no idea.............................................. they'll just have to look for something else!

Think the A1 Locomotive Trust may beg to differ there Chris! 34046 and 70000 are owned by Jeremy Hosking, but not all 3!
