    On Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th June 2023 the Middleton Railway in Leeds will be celebrating 90(plus) years of the diesel with a diesel gala.


    Operating on passenger trains on the Saturday are Mary (HCD577/1932), Carroll (HCD631/1946, LMS 7051 (HE1697/1932) plus, visiting from the Foxfield Railway Kerr Stuart 4421/1929. In addition to this Courage/Sweet Pea (HE1786/1935) will be in operation on brake van rides in Moor Road yard.


    A rare opportunity to ride behind 4 pre-war diesels on the same day – and the first opportunity to ride behind KS4421 other than at Foxfield. On the Sunday all locomotives except Carroll will work again as Saturday


    Departures from Moor Road (LS10 2JQ) and loco allocations – subject to the usual - are as follows:


    1030 to Park Halt: 4421 top & 7051 tail

    1100 to Balm Road (Network Rail connection via Moor Road crossing): 7051 top and 577 & 631(Sux) tail

    1125 to Park Halt: 577 & 631(Sux)

    1200 to Balm Road: 4421 top & 7051 tail

    1225 to Park Halt: 7051

    1300 to Balm Road: 577 & 631(Sux) top & 4421 tail

    1325 to Park Halt: 4421

    1400 to Balm Road: 7051 top & 577 & 631(Sux) tail

    1425 to Park Halt: 577 & 631(Sux)

    1500 to Balm Road: 577 top & 4421 tail

    1525 to Park Halt: KS4421 top & D577 tail

    D577 leads back to Moor Road (arr 1550)


    Tickets are £10 adult and £4 child and these are day rovers – single journey tickets are not available. Tickets can be booked online in advance at: www.middletonrailway.org.uk
