    Evening All,

    A TV crew from the popular German TV programme 'Eisenbahn Romantik' visited the Middleton Railway in Leeds for their 200th Anniversary of Steam Traction Gala during June. The resultant film was broadcast on German TV this afternoon and can now be viewed on the Internet. Here's the link :

    Folge 772: 200 Jahre Dampfeisenbahn in Leeds - SWR Fernsehen :: Eisenbahn-Romantik | SWR.de

    Don't worry if you do not understand any German - the pictures will mostly speak for themselves.

    That was quite good. Some good camera angles and interviews.

    When you look on their website they have made over 750 railway programmes worldwide, all of which are listed and good few of which can be played from the website. Sadly they don't seem to have been to the UK as much as perhaps they should considering the amount of heritage steam we have, but they have visited most of the important railways around the world

    Eisenbahn Romantik was originally thought of as a series of short films to fill in gaps between programmes .It has been going21 years now and is watched by 1 million viewers each time. Our children grew up with it and loved it.

    Prior to going up to Leeds they were filming in southern England. They filmed on the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway, Volks Electric Railway, the Bluebell Railway and the West Somerset Railway. The programme will be broadcast some time next year.

    In 2009 they were in North Wales, mainly on the narrow gauge but also on the Llangollen Railway. The programme is now on YouTube :

    Worth watching even if you don't speak German as the pictures do most of the talking.
