    Hi,

Sadly, just as the Midland Railway Trust were thinking all had gone reasonably quiet on the thefts front we were faced with the theft of 150 metres of 48 core signaling cable a couple of weeks ago. This has knocked Swanwick signal box out of use meaning we can't run ETB. Therefore until further notice all services will be one train working only. This is probably going to last till at least Christmas unless we can lay our hands on some cheap cable as our stocks have run dry after replacing what the thieving scumbags have pinched over the past two years. Earlier on in the year they pinched yards of track circuits and mains power cable from Hammersmith. (The cost for the just the replacement mains cable was over £3000) Other non passenger line track circuits have had to be robbed to get the passenger line ones working correctly.

We apologise in advance that any "two train working" events in timetable will be one train working. Please bear with us whilst we find a cost effective way to fix the problem.

Other items robbed during the year include:
Chair bolts (yes they were actually holding down chairs at the time on the Butterley works branch)
    Fish plate bolts
    Keys
    DMU fuse boxes and holders
    ETH cable
Multi working cable from under a Class 114 trailer car.
    Class 141 jumper cables
    First Gen DMU jumper cables
    Mains power cable
Cheap steel cables used for coach charging
Coach draw bars (still fitted to recently scrapped LMS sleeping car)
Attempted to steal leaf springs/brass bearings off LMS sleeping car.
