    Hey all,

Just thought I would start a topic to let you know about a brilliant article that has been written about the Midland Railway stations that are on our line. The article has been written by Howard Sprenger, an author who wrote the excellent book "The Wirksworth Branch" amongst others and tells of how the architecture used on our line became the template for other iconic station buildings from that period. Worth a read and a gander at the accompanying photographs.

The page can be found on the railway's website (along with a printable version) at http://www.e-v-r.com/stations/buildings.htm

    Cheers,

    Leigh

Very Interesting, Do the EVR plan to rebuild Wirksworth station builds to as they were?

There has been much discussion about this around the place. The general feeling seems to be that a station in a similar style will be built at some point. Nobody really knows when. This is probably because the company are more focussed on reopening the remaining 5 miles of track between Idridgehay and Duffield first, then coming back and developing the Shottle site (maybe including the building) as well as then hopefully reinstating the platform at Hazelwood. There is also a possibility for a small halt at Gorsey Bank.
