    Hi

Is there a military railways website/forum anywhere?

Particular interest is British, world war two.

    Thanks in anticipation.

Worked on one in the 1950s in Didcot. The huge army depot where the cooling towers now stand.Stretched over a huge complex with track running all over the place, with it's own shunter.Branch line running off the GWR main line.

Remember one on the Southern Region out at Feltham.Another huge complex belonging to the R.O.A.C.,as was Didcot.
This layed away from the normal track before it reached the depot. Also had it's own W.D.engine which cut across the High Street.Gentleman holding up traffic with red flag as the goods trains run from depot to the picking up point near the branch jnc.

Direct hit in the war by a V1 flying bomb.

It's a fascinating subject, especially the change over from normal steam to W.D. steam. You left the goods at a certain spot and the military took over from there.
