    Mod's. Come on......

I really enjoy NatPres and visit every day when possible.
I posted a link last night to a new forum http://www.heritagemarine.org/ that is purely for maritime preservation and will be of interest to not many on the Nat Pres boards apart fomr the few that visit this section and are not really interested in Trams, Vulcan bombers etc.
It's not a competition nor do I have an axe to grind (I have nought to do with the new forum by the way) but thought it of interest.

Guess what, after a few hours, post removed. Actions like this is what gives NATPRES a bad reputation.

    Dan

Ok I apologise but it's not the first time posts have been removed.
Anyway, I don't feel totally out of order moaning when a post of mine was moved to a section I never visit without being asked or a message.

They're moderators, they don't have to ask your permission to move a thread, especially if it is actually to a more relevant section...usually a note is left or something, but they don't need to ask your permission

No I understand but then thats the problem I have with actions like removing/ moving messages by "moderators". A simple reply to my OP stating it had been moved would have sufficed.
I have spent over ten years on a site called TugTalk and never had a post removed or moved.
Links section- yes it's a link but seeing as people with an interest in shipping visit "everything else Heritage" it seemed fairly logical....

It is NatPres standard procedure to leave a note, and I have had threads moved a few times and a note left behind, this is most certainly an exception.

Hi Dan, I'm not sure which mod moved it but we do normally PM the original poster to say we have moved something and the reason, probably just an oversight by the mod who did it.

If you want I can copy the original post back into the everything else heritage section then stick and lock it so it would always be prominent in that section?

I will leave this thread open for members who fancy a moan at or about the mods or even the odd compliment!

    Neil.

Err, apologies, I just realised this thread is in the everything else heritage section. It may be better in the new general chat section? I will leave it for now to avoid any confusion then move it later today.

    Thanks, Neil.

Oh no it is not Chris, I had posts removed with so much as a "by your leave" as recently as last week.

There was no note to say it had been done and why.

I moved the thread, and as it was @ 09:44 this morning, I did not have time to send a PM, I sent an email instead.

Dan did you check your spam box? As I have been having issues with the server with emails being marked as spam.

Perhaps you'd like to offer your services as a mod, Dan.
    We need to remember these guys do this on a voluntary basis;
as such they should be supported and encouraged,
not picked on fo the occasional oversight

What truly amazes me (but then does it?) is that if I post some news regarding the project I am involved with, the restoring back to full working order of the 1903 built steam tug-tender "Daniel Adamson", I usually get 3-4 replies, occasionally more. I come on here making a genuine and justified complaint about impolite moderation (No email in spam filter but an un-signed email received at 19:48 from "Heritage Trust Shop" explaining the thread had been moved) and we are now into two pages of discussion. Amazing.

Back to my original point though, I posted a link to a MARITIME HERITAGE forum on the "ANYTHING ELSE HERITAGE" section as most people with an interest in old ships (ANYTHING ELSE HERITAGE) tend to visit this section I would imagine more that the links page, a section I personally have never visited.

I take on the point that the Mod's are volunteers, I am too and regularly clock upto fifty, yes fifty hours a week as a volunteer. I like to think I use that time wisely......

While I can see your point I feel that I should make you aware of the following from the forum rules (Something that all users agree to abide to when they sign up) -
Therefore the way I see it after reading your post that it is a link to a forum so therefore by definition and going by the forum rules it should be in the link section. Certainly looking through the link section that is where every other link to other forums etc appear. Personally I can see the logic as all the links are in one place rather than spread all over the forum. Makes it much easier for a member to find the ones that might interest them that way.

Jesh, all that happened was they moved the link you posted into the LINKS section, where all the LINKS go, is it really worth all this?

    Dan,

Seriously mate, Is it that big a deal ?

At the end of the day the way it was handled may not have been how you'd speak to the queen, but it's there in the end.

your not after compensation for an unsigned email or a 3 page groveling apology surely ?

We're big enough, old enough and ugly enough to get the point across without needing to wear white gloves and tread egg shells nor resort to chucking coal out of the tender at every misinterpreted word ?

The Mods / Admin have responded, youve got your point across, can we pick up the coal and put it back in the tender ?

were all on one side at the end.
