A friend of mine has recently spent a few days on Mallorca. He took some pictures of the narrow gauge railways there and sent me half a dozen which I have put on my Fotopic site. If anyone is interested to have a look, they are here :

As is my usual custom, I have put them in the 'Stop Press!' collection for new pictures. In due course, however, I shall move them on and they will then be found in the Spain and Portugal collection which is here :

Hope that they are of interest.

THanks Ron. I was in Mallorca about 4 years ago and at the time time there was much speculation that the single "commercial" line to Inca was being extended and upgraded. Information was very hard to come by but I just got this from t'internet which sounds very promising
The line Palma - Inca was since 1977 the sole remnant of a network that once connected Palma with most of the island. In 2001, the section Inca - Sa Pobla reopened, followed by the section Inca - Sinéu in 2002 and Sinéu - Manacor in 2003.
The expected reopening of the branche from Sa Pobla to Alcudia in 2005 did yet not happen. The line from Manacor to Artá is currently under construction for a planned 2012 reopening. Also the whole line from Palma to Artá will be electrified for the opening of the Artá-branch in 2012.

If anyone has any information on the extensions I'd be very interested.
