Hi - I've started a little blog about the various new build standard gauge projects. Hopefully it'll be a handy overview of what's going on - not claiming it'll be absolutely the fastest with news, but the aim is to keep it up to date and spread the word a bit.

    Nice blog!
You should add a flag counter and see how many countries look at the site!

BTW - why not add a Narrow Gauge section too? Lots of interesting new builds going on there

Thanks for setting this up! :)

    Glad you like!

I don't think Wordpress.com has a flag counter in its Widgets, unless I'm missing it... I'll keep the widgets under review though.

Narrow gauge was something I thought about, but ultimately I'd probably struggle to keep track of those projects plus the standard gauge ones. Plus it's a bit different isn't it - new narrow gauge engines have been built for decades, really since not long after the old traditional manufacture of them stopped (c.1970 I believe the last narrow gauge loco was manufactured in the UK for export... how long after that was it until the first new Ffestiniog double-ender? Less than a decade...)

Hi there - my blog uses Wordpress, and the flag counter is dead easy.
Go to http://flagcounter.com/index.html and choose the variables you want (number of flags, colour of background, number of columns, etc), then click 'get your flag counter'. The system then generates two lots of code. Highlight the top set ('code for websites') and save it in a Word file (you need to save this code in case of difficulties later on and you need to re-insert it on your blog).
In Wordpress, use the widgets to drag a 'text' section to either the side bar or the bottom of the page (whichever you prefer). Then paste the flag counter text into the text box. Click save and voila - you have a flag counter.
I promise to visit again and give you a USA flag!! You also get access to the flag counter forum where people ask for and offer flags of different countries.
To see how it work go to my blog (not trains I'm afraid): http://clinicallinguistics.wordpress.com/
    Cheers!

    Martin

    Hi New Build,

Good to see this thread, Sheff was thinking about doing one, you might have saved him the trouble.
Best wishes at keeping up to date and selecting the best info. to display.
As a 'Hengist' contributor I look forward to seeing what you put up for that one.
