Continuity is often the route to success. The MHR has had a number of Marketing Managers in recent years - a temporary contract suggests - we are not confident in the chosen candidate and - we are not confident in our future. Why interview candidates when Tim has done a good job - it wastes everyones time. Bearing in mind the railway is underpinned by a huge pool of volunteer labour it does not set anything other than a poor standard when Management spend precious financial resource on an (unecessary) interview process just to satisfy some obscure internal policy.

It was not temporary - we don't have any trust, it was do do with agreements with other people and one's I shan't go into on here.

Observers are by their very name and nature, just that, a person who observes. However as someone who has put £'s into the MHR pot, I consider that on this occasion, I can comment. The fact that I opt not to give my name does not negate my right to express nor the validity of, my comment.

And David, by assuming that I am a man, you have exposed your narrow view and discrimatory attitude. So I am not sure I can place to much credence in your responses

"And David, by assuming that I am a man, you have exposed your narrow view and discrimatory attitude".............

I was quite prepared to give Observer the benefit of the doubt until he - and I repeat, "he" - descended into farce to make a pedantic point. I think Observer you will find that David made an informed value judgement based not only on the fact that you are on an obscure thread on a railway enthusiast website, displaying a typical male pattern of logic and reason, - but the fact that you pursued it into the realms of petty pedantry which confirms that he made - and as you have proved - a good call. Yes I too am a male if not only for for my style but also my monicker- though if you think about it , how can you be certain I am human?
Anyway I wonder why Tony Wood does not set up and run a website for and in behalf of the MHRPS which could be complementary(and hopefully complimentary) to the MHR website and focussed on the volunteers and members rather than the customers? Tony clearly has a good eye for a good webpage design and it is a shame to see his product frittered away on obscure sites such as steamtube when it could be far more beneficial attracting the passing casual enthusiast as he once did with the MHR site?

There is absolutely no point in taking note of people such as Observer - it's obviously someone with their own agenda which they want to present as fact, which by the way the first few sentences of their original post are definitely not. Once again it would seem that the MHR has become the whetstone for someone's personal axe grinding.

Sorry my friend you are dead wrong. The law requires that once the contract is up , he/she has to re-apply for that position if they want the job and secondly that position has to be re-advertised. This is not speculation , IT IS THE LAW.

When Tim first came to the Railway, he was taking over from someone on maternity leave. That was then this is now.

Please stop the whinging and stirring unless you have the full facts.

    Best regards
    Chris

    Gents,

As of today, I have tendered my resignation from the web team to Tim Beere, with immediate effect. It's had its ups and downs, but in the words of the two Ronnies..."It's goodnight from him".

Not wishing to be critical, but there hasn't been a "Loco Shed" update since the 22nd January. I am mindful of the earlier comments on this thread.

    Thanks in anticipation

Another week goes by and yet still no update. This has to be some kind of record for the MHR site. A WHOLE MONTH without a loco shed update!

I am more than inclined to agree with you and others now Mr Stevens.

I have deliberately not gone to Ropley to take some photographs and do an update for the loco shed to see if anyone else would contribute to this. Not surprisingly in the circumstances nobody else has contributed which makes me wonder whether the Mid-Hants members are so used to being "spoon fed", they are too selfish to get off their backsides and contribute. Why should it always be left to the same few who appear to actually care the railway.

Apologies for the rant, now over.

    Regards
    Chris

    Hi chris,

I'm hoping to send a few photo's to the web site this following weekend. I was there last weekend but there wasn't a big change in the shed to photo photo so I didn't take any photo's

I think what some people at the MHR seem to forget is that if you are a working volunteer on the railway you will generally find out about whats happening with regularity.

The wider membership rely somewhat on the excellent 3 monthly MH News, but however this can be up to 3 months out of date.

When the website was previously administered, it was kept up to date very regularly and very swiftly.

I well remember a few years back, sending in a picture of 73096 passing Tiverton, here in Devon, on a Cathedrals Express run. Within 1 hour of sending the email it was up on the site and giving pleasure i hope, to those that work to maintain her.

So could i please ask and appeal to anyone who regularly volunteers at Ropley, please take a camera and snap a few shots. Send them to Tim Beere/web team and help keep your fellow MH members informed about whats going on. If Chris can do it for the wagon group(which is most appreciated), why cant you?

You don't half post some nonsense Chris -are you really suggesting that just because someone doesn't take photos to send to the website that they don't care about the railway?. Just remember there are those who have volunteered at the railway a lot longer than you, have put a darn sight more into the railway than you over the years, and without whom you wouldn't have a railway to play on. Please don't ever say that those people don't care about the railway.
