There is an announcement expected imminently that the Fort Wayne railroad historical Society, keepers of Nickel Plate Road number 765, are going to take on the restoration to working order of New York Central Mohawk 3001.
This is significant as it will be the first New York Central Loco to steam since the 1950s, And is one of only two surviving large NYC Locos, thanks to the efforts of Alfred Perlman, Chairman of the NYC at the time.
