UPDATE: bad news, the class 47 will no longer attend the NNR gala. here is the quote from the weybourne traction group facebook page: "47367 is currently out of traffic pending some minor repairs, which were all scheduled to be completed before the Diesel Gala but due to circumstances outside both the NNR and the Stratford 47 group's control, this servicing will not be able to be completed in time for the Gala event, which is now just over four weeks away. Therefore the decision has been taken to allow it to depart for pastures new before the Diesel Gala event........... Keep your eyes on Railways Illustrated who will break the news on what 47367's replacement will be."
i wonder what the replacement will be??

well, there has been a few changes to the gala line up. the class 50 can no longer be used but is still hauling the convoy. the resident class 25 will not be able to run due to no time for running in. but a 4th visitor, in the shape of class 14 D9531 is to fill in for the cls 25, so will be doing non stop runs!! the timetables are also up now on the NNR website.......

BAD NEWS: update from weybroune traction group
"It is with much regret that we must announce what no gala organising team would wish to announce at such short notice, but Class 20 D8188 will no longer be available for the event.
The Somerset & Dorset Locomotive Company Ltd reported to us with much regret that D8188 is unable to attend the NNR's 2014 gala due to a mechanical problem with the engine. D8188 will remain at Boden Rail Engineering for further investigative works for the immediate future.
Both ourselves and D8188's owners are devastated by the news, but the show must go on. So despite this setback, please, please do come and support our event and enjoy all the other fantastic locos and attractions we have to offer.
D8059 will still visit as booked and will now work the Saturday Beerex services solo. As a result of the withdrawal of D8188, we are still confident we can run a full service with either minor or no cancellations to booked services. D5631 will now run on Sunday to fill D8188's turn.
We are currently working very hard behind the scenes to implement these unplanned and unforeseen changes, we will publish updated timetables as soon as is practically possible"

    what a shame.. :(

Looks like lots of withdrawals and failures. Oh the irony of having to substitute Diesel with Steam hahaha

Now there's a fantastic reversal of the form book.

It's at no ones expense trust me. It is just that a huge grumble on this forum is with the amount of diesel involved in the steam tours and charters, where as here the potential reverse situation was happening.

I wasn't picking fault, finger pointing or looking for an explanation, I could just see the funny side of what was admittedly for some people an unfortunate situation.

    It's irony, that's all.

Oh, and 76084 is awesome, love the bark up through Kelling.

Well I found it to be an excellent gala on a very friendly and hospitable railway. The organsiers certainly had to work hard to provide a spectacle but it delivered in spades as far as I was concerned.
The photocharter with the superbly restored resident Class 37 was also a great day (or evening in my case!).

It very much had the atmosphere of an early 1960's great eastern region time-warp with the latest livery Class 37 thrown in as a noisy and bright bonus! And as always 76084 sounded and looked superb.
