The North Norfolk Railway is hosting another Steam Gala from the 4th to the 6th September 2009. Following the success of the highly popular "That's Yer Lot" M&GN anniversary Gala, the Grand Autumn Steam Gala will feature seven locomotives in steam. The diagrams will be very similar to the highly intensive service of the M&GN Gala and there will be plenty of trains throughout all three days.

The following locomotives are booked to attend the gala:

There will also be the oppertunity to see some unique rolling stock at the Gala. The prestigious Gresely "Quad-Art" Teak set will be in service and will be a must see with the N2 Tank along with the Custard & Cream Dining set. A demonstration freight set will also operate during the event.

An evening dining train will run on the Saturday and the Restaurant Buffet and Gresely Buffet will be running to provide refreshments throughout the day.

An evening "Open Shed" and Photoshoot event will also run on the Friday night of the Gala:

The evening will be split into two parts. Firstly, from 6pm - 8:30pm, we will run an "Open Shed" event, when all are welcome to come and visit Weybourne Locomotive and Carriage & Wagon workshops. Visitors will be able to watch from a viewing area within the Yard as the gala performers move off the pit and into the yard and at least one locomotive will be stabled within the locomotive shed, creating an unforgettable atmosphere.

The second part of the event will run from 8:30pm - 11pm, when all photographers and enthusiasts are welcome for an organised shed photoshoot. This will take place in Weybourne Yard and will be feature six locomotives. There will be a number of sensitively lit "shots" incorporating one, two and possibly three locomotives.

Tickets for the "Open Shed" Event will be priced at £4 per person, with a £10 Family Ticket (2 Adults, 2 Children).
Tickets for the Photoshoot will be priced at £7 per person, and they will also be valid for the "Open Shed" event.

Weybourne Station Buffet will be open serving a wide selection of refreshments.

Please remember, all proceeds raised during this event go towards the restoration of Dub-Dee 2-10-0 No.90775, a stalwart locomotive on the line for many years.

    Please Note:
Lineside Passes will not be valid for the "Open Shed" or Photoshoot.
Due to the nature of the event, Disabled Access will only be possible during the "Open Shed" event.
Limited Car Parking is available at Weybourne Station Car Park and Overflow.

There will also be some basic rules that all visitors must comply to when visiting the Shed:

1.ORANGE Hi Viz Vests must be worn at all times. No Yellow Vests Permitted
    2. No Children Under 8 are permitted in the Shed.
    3. Each Child Under 12 is to be accompanied by one responsible adult at all times.
    4. Follow instruction from all shed staff at all times.
    5. No Alcohol or Drugs are to be consumed at any time before or during event.

See http://www.nnrailway.co.uk/page.php?pid=4 for further details on the photoshoot.

    Cheers,
    Owen

    NNR gala

Just to add to the last post, and to some comments that have appeared on here but have gone.

The timetable is close to the February gala, with a few tweaks. I have requested that the N2 is off-loaded chimney first up to Holt, as most of you have expressed that is what you would like to see. Also, 1982 Ring Haw will be operating one or two trains a day, in between it's station pilot duties.
There is also a goods train, not the engineers train we ran in February.
We are also running the class 24 for the diesel fans. This has resulted in some comments, but it was thaught that it is a visiting loco, and running it will give greater flexibility with the timetable, and allow us to run the timetable we are.

The Gresley buffet is not running, as it is in for drying out before major repair work, There is some catering on the RBR set (set A), but there is a BBQ running at Weybourne for Friends of Weybourne selling a range of locolly sourced burgers, hot dogs and steaks (yes steaks!!). And the station buffets will also be open.

I have tried to make our gala as interesting and entertaining as possible, with some strange loco pairings and hopefully some authentic ones aswell.

I will be at Weybourne for the weekend, somewhere between the coffee shop and the BBQ, and I am always willing to hear what you have to say, and to take ideas for future events, so if you can, please say hi!!!

    Mark Middleton, co-organiser.

Thanks for the update, must get my line side sorted expires end of the month. Glad to hear the N2 should be pointing upto holt. I think over all we are all happy to put up with class 24 with have the N2 facing into holt. On a final note I am verry pleased to see already fund raising efforts to get the WD back into action, don't think there is anything that goes up the bank as well WD.

B&B booked, lineside pass obtained very much looking forward to it.

Can I ask about the nightshoot, is it going to organised? That may seem a silly queston (but it isn't always the case), but I mean will the shoot be controlled so people aren't walking all over the place getting in each others way? If so, I best get back on the phone and book a ticket for that!

Can I also make a cheaky request, The N2 on the quadarts with a late avo train would be perfect, the light would be lovely that time of day.

    Hi Matt,
Glad to hear you can come!

The Photoshoot will be organised - we are hoping to have autonomy over all shunting in the evening and we've got a shunting diagram drawn up which is being checked over by the powers that be (!). We'll have some lights, and there should be plenty of different photo set ups to suit everyone's taste. I've counted roughly a dozen different set ups on the current diagram. The diagram will probably change or be modified in some form or another but we will do our best to please everyone. There will probably be a fixed area where people can shoot from, and we'll set up the shots as locos are moved around during the evening. If you ever came to the February Gala Photoshoot, the format will be much more organised as there wasn't a great deal of planning in February. There should be a few good photo opportunities during the "Open Shed" event too as things come on shed.

    Cheers,
    Owen

    Hi Simon,
We've only very recently (today I think) put the tickets for the photoshoot on sale on the website - so please bear with us! I don't know why it says 3rd September, I'll get onto it. Thanks for pointing this out!

Sorry, I didn't mean for my post to sound as though I was critising... It was meant as a pointer, I know your probably very busy at the moment. :)

Tickets will be available on the night won't they Owen?

No worries Simon - tickets will be on sale at the event but if tickets sell very well before the event then priority will have to be given to those who have already bought them - but this should not be a problem so it really doesn't matter if you buy your tickets in advance or on the day.

In reply to Matt, I have booked the N2 on the quads off Sheringham 1850 on the Saturday, with the hope that the light will be right. I know you can never guarentee these things, but you never know.

    Mark.

From the looks of things I'll need to get familiar with it as I'll have my firing test with it! Eeep!

    Any news on the timetable?

My preference is to leave the engines dirty, they look much more authentic.
