I'm struggling to find information regarding demonstration freights on the NNR which I believe are run on Red Service Sundays?

I spend two weeks each August close to the line and was thinking of "going lineside" this year for the first time. A timetable with the freights (and presumably Weybourne-Holt light engines) included would be a huge help as I was really looking forward to getting some different photographs, as I am never in the area for any gala events, held at other times of year.

Have trawled the official website but can't seem to find any advertising or information of these workings. I believe these have been running for about 12 months now so just wondered if any friendly people on here with the information could possibly help? If the timings are for public consumption of course!

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,

You're quite correct these do run on Sundays where the 'Red' Service operates. This means you'll see both the advertised 45 minute steam service and the freights hauled by a diesel.

The Light engine move from Wey-Holt is timetabled for 11:00 / 11:09

After that the trains 'slot in' between the main services, the first being off Holt at 12:25 then Sher 13:10, Holt 13:55 Sher 14:40. The trains are non-stop through Weybourne, and will normally take about 20 minutes to travel the line.

At 15:25 the Engine moves light from Holt - Sher before hauling the final two services of the day, 16:30 and 17:40 passengers ex-sher

At least that is the theory anyway!!

If you're about on the 22nd of August give me a wave, as i'm doing the Guard turn on the goods train

    Dave,

Thanks for the times, with a red service timetable in front of me, it all makes sense, albeit a little tight for the freight!

Unfortunately I won't see you as it will be the 1st & 8th that I will have chance to see the workings. I now have my fingers crossed for nice weather...and the 25!

By the way, great shots of the NNR on your website :)

If your there on the 8th, give the driver a wave - he will wave back (and it SHOULD be the 25). See you there!!
