57601 leads the ''Northern Belle" down the Durham Coast at Hawthorn Dene with 57313 bringing up the rear. 6.6.2021
On the way to Preston, slowing for a TSR at Brock.
Current weather (11am) from Chapel Lane, Hoghton - dry with intermittent sun but remaining cool (15C) in the gentle north-easterly breeze.
Lizzie was working hard as she burst into view under the occupation bridge, exhaust clearly visible, a healthy feather of steam at the safety valves, a blast on the hooter, approaching quickly, Mr Kelly leaning from the cab, another whistle and away under the bridge. The tail gunner was working - but not too hard. 6201 continued working hard as she accelerated away towards Blackburn. Now in full sun Lizzie and her train looked magnificent as they curved away towards Pleasington. The sound of her exhaust continued long after Lizzie had disappeared from view. RT and around 36mph at the summit.
