As a regular visitor to NYMR using my bus pass this is of interest, although Pickering is not on the 'express' section so still OK using the pass. I use Goathland occasionally though and that becomes a problem.

My visits to NYMR are already reduced since Coastliner retimed its buses to arrive simultaneously with the on the hour NYMR departures from Pickering, meaning an hour's wait for the next train.

Cannot think of other bus routes that are similar to the Coastliner routes, but if Coastliner gets this to work OK, I'm sure other operators will be looking at their networks to see what could become 'express'.

I hadn't realised Malton - Pickering had been retimed in the mornings, it's been a good couple of years since I got the train and bus to Pickering. Outward wasn't too bad, though I had a tight connection in York for the train to Malton, but coming back the trains and buses never connected. Anything up to 55 minutes waiting at Pickering, Malton and York is not my idea of fun. Despite having free travel on East Coast at weekends, my visits to the Moors have been very much reduced, and when I do go, I drive the 360 mile round trip and spend the full day there, rather than messing around and missing half the day due to woeful "public" transport.
