wouldn't this event in early October be a great opportunity to double head A1 tornado and A4 sir Nigel Gresley, as they are both in the same livery? that would be impressive

Not a popular thing to do as far as the Civil Engineer is concerned, I believe. Something to do with overloading certain bridges, although at least one iffy one has been replaced since it was last done (with 60007 and 60532)

How long is the gap between the loco wheelbases and what is the length of any of the bridges that give concern?
Other than 31, 32 and Esk Valley I don't think any other bridge would be affected.
31 has had some attention by slewing the track over with 32 to follow in due course.

That would be a big bore for most loco crews.

The feelings of crew are very important, however, it is a special weekend intended (nodoubt) to pull in extra punters to help swell the coffers/stop the drain of cash out of the continual leaky bucket. Every effort should be made to attract people if that effort doesn't cost a lot. Double headed blue pacifics on teak, you don't think that would be attractive not only to linesiders but also to riders? What about a morning photo-shoot at the MPD of the two next to each other, another chance to generate cash with again not a lot of effort?
    Just a thought.
