Is it normal fares this weekend ? I can't see October 5th and 6th listed under 'special event' or 'gala' fares, so it would appear to be normal fares ??

I've happily paid £1 for a Saturday visit' timetable

Yes they did - the NYMR's 2258 is believed to have been shedded at Leeds whilst on loan to the LNER prior to being sent to Europe. The Pickering area was used for training tank crews, and at least one S160 is believed to have made it to Pickering on a tank train.

This LNER weekend is a Gala Fares Weekend and timetables with Loco allocations are £1 per day (available now) http://www.nymr.co.uk/shop/LNER_Weekend_Timetables.html, LNER weekend timetables only available free from booking offices.
Yes at this time the Tornado is on front of the Pullman Diner train.
    Hope that helps.

I can't answer that one definitively. It was facing north (towards Whitby) last weekend, and is unlikely to have been turned. I haven't seen the rosters so I don't know if it will be running at the weekend - it isn't an LNER machine, or even vaguely related, after all!

The valve gear was designed at Doncaster and based on latest LNER thinking (three bar crosshead, suspended radius rod, etc.) so it has some pretence. You could say it is what Peppercorn would have built if Nationalisation hadn't taken place!

You could, but I wouldn't! It would have had a round topped firebox and parallel boiler for a start - a cross between a K1 and a B1 I would have thought.

Probably because the ASG had no visiting locos and they didn't think anybody would pay for it!
