During the railways quiet period(Well for the operating dept really) the time for work has kicked in.
Currently 3 fair sized projects are underway.
Levisham North where the track has been removed dug down and relaid with the existing rail and sleepers minus any worn or damaged sleepers. Plus the sleepers per length has been increased from 24 to 28 per length.
Newbridge 12 x 60ft panel relay removing the existing Bullhead concrete sleepers and relaying with brand new FB113 rail on F27 concrete sleepers.
Pickering Station Br 7 This bridge is now life expired after spending about a 100 years under the platform at Pickering. In fact it was secondhand when it was installed originally. Having spent a number of years elsewhere.
This bridge is being replaced with a cast concrete slab deck.
A number of photos of each of the sites can be seen on the attached link.

The bridge works are the reason that half term running at the Pickering end will be Heritage DMU service to Goathland with Steam being Grosmont - Goathland. Does that remind anyone of services in the 1970s?
