    Not very often a diesel railtour gets a thread here, so I'd thought i'd try it.

    the Hastings DEMU is coming to London (fit's in nice with Clan Line in between)

    Where is this unit going to be serviced from Kensington ? (Clapham, Willesden, Southall ?)

    Thanks for that. Although I am primarily a steam fan, I do have a soft spot for these unique units as they were very much part of my life in the late sixties and seventies. My Dad used to commute daily to London from Sevenoaks and I remember him talking about them when they first came into service, displacing the steam service. He didn't like them!
    I saw the tour today near Sevenoaks Tunnel and it was nice to hear that familiar growl! No I know it's not like Tangmere, but part of our railway heritage nevertheless. I will get my steam 'fix' on Monday when 60163 does its whirl around Kent, then out to watch Tangy on the Hastings line on Tuesday.
