    Locomotives of note:
    Class 04, 2240 had been withdrawn in April 1968 from Birkenhead and was broken up by AR King, Norwich in October 1970.
    Class 04, 2297 which would survive for another ten months before being withdrawn in July 1970 and broken up almost immediately by H Brahams, Bury St Edwards in September 1970.
    Class 10, 3137 which would survive for another ten months before being withdrawn in July 1970 and broken up by CF Booth at Doncaster in November 1970.

    A day out from Nottingham to Swansea behind class 47 1857 produced the following:
    six class 03 (2087, 2142/44/45, 2382/87), twenty six class 08 (3025/50, 3175, 3422, 3569/70/77, 3747/49/53/58/79, 3822/24/27/41, 3933/79/80, 4021/24, 4127/28/72/74/75), six class 20 (8039/50, 8155/60/79/83), one class 23 (5901), three class 24 (5021, 5133/42), eleven class 25 (5226, 7513/14/19/37/49/69/75, 7615/24/76), two class 35 (7084, 7100), twenty seven class 37 (6602/03/04/07, 6876/77/78/79/80/82/87/92, 6906/17/33/41/56/73/77/79/83/87/88/92/94/95/99), one class 40 (222), eight class 45 (24/29/31/70/89/90/91, 117), two class 46 (149/77), thirty three class 47 (1583/86/92/95, 1612/45/47/52/55/63/64/65/69/77/80/88/91/94, 1739, 1841/49/57, 1903/10/12/13/16/17/24/28/34/55/82), one class 52 (1062), one class 85 (E3062) and four class 86 (E3113/19/45/69).

    A grand total of one hundred and thirty two locomotives seen in the day representing fifteen different classes.

    Locomotives of note:
    Class 03 2087 which had been withdrawn over a year before in June 1971 from Landore and would survive for another six months before being broken up by Pounds Ltd at Fratton in March 1973
    Class 03 2387 which would be withdrawn three months later in December 1972 from Derby and would survive for another four months before being broken up by CF Booth, Rotherham in April 1973
    Class 35 Hymek 7084 which would be withdrawn within the next seven weeks during October 1972 and would survive for only another few weeks before being broken up at Swindon works in November 1972
    Class 35 Hymek 7100 which would be withdrawn within two months during November 1972 and would survive until December 1974 before being broken up at Swindon works
