Just watched a vid on Youtube and a member of staff from the Bala Lake railway talks about the original plan for the preserved NG railway to have run from Corwen to Dolgellau. Never heard this before. Was this a serious plan? Was the BR board ever approached about land purchase in relation to this does anyone know?

The Railway was started by George Barnes and his original idea was to get to Corwen, but he changed his mind pretty quickly by all accounts!! Decided the present route and then into Bala town was more realistic, although even this has proved to be a pipedream unfortunately.
