Life in the old dog yet it would seem.
As the old class 312 and 317 electrics that ran out of Kings Cross had, which too were 5 abreast.
Blimey, so thats what it took for her to be attracted to you, you had to get her drunk,
The 504s on Bury to Manchester did too, you could always get a seat on them though.
As I remember my few trips in them, though, it wasn't always so easy to stay in the seat. And as for comfort while running fast (Crewe-Liverpool stoppers could get up a decent turn of speed) in their close relatives, the 304s
Ahhhh...the AM 4's...Gresley bogies. Lovely!
A person i known told me he lost his virginity on a pacer set, dont weather he meant sexually or just riding on a pacer unit.
Dim distant memories.
You know who gets a strange glazed look in her her eyes when riding a Pacer on The Bentham Line. ..........."Can we go to Morecambe on the train" ?
TBH you wouldn't have to do a great deal of work, just sit their and let the suspension do the work.
I hope it wasn't sexually, thats a very high price to pay for not having a ticket
Calling Victor an old dog, that's special measurers for you old chap, even now i bet Victors sat their, glass of single malt in hand, planning how to inflict as much pain and suffering on you as he can, something along the lines of mrs v singing on On ikily moor ba tat
Ye gods.................On Ilkla Moor Baht At.......................................
Where the hell is ikily ?
It's Ilkely after the syrup truck spilled it's load...
Maybe this should be the subject of its own thread, but with the demise of the Pacers, where can you now find the worst ride on the national network? The Class 139s (aka Parry People Movers) on the Stourbridge Branch are pretty rough, not helped by jointed rail and a major league wheel flat on one of the units. On the plus side it's less than a mile and you don't get up much speed. So where else can you go to be 'all shook up'?
Does the Underground count? The Northern Line can be pretty rough.
Is Victor, by any chance, Eric Olthwaite from Ripping Yarns?
we need to know
All we have to ask how black the black pudding is.
Last timed I travelled on it the Island Line took a deal of beating - my two sons & some tourists were amazed by it.
Yep takes some beating...
