Alstom has marked the 25th anniversary of the Pendolino by bringing together two classic trains for a ceremony at Milan’s Central station.

The ETR 401 prototype from 1974 and ETR 450 were at the centre of an event hosted by Alstom and Ferrovie dello Stato (FS) to honour the milestone.

Since the first train went into service in 1988, a total of 492 Pendolinos have been sold around the world, with Russia, China, Switzerland, Great Britain, Poland and Italy among the countries currently operating the model.

The Pendolino is known for its utilisation of tilting technology which allows the train to maintain high speeds around corners.
