Penrhyn Castle, near Bangor, north Wales, is a vast mock-Norman stately home built in the early 19th century by the owners of the Penrhyn slate quarry. It is now in the care of the National Trust.

The castle is home to the National Trust's important collection of industrial railway locos and rolling stock. Most are from the north Wales slate railways, but five locos have come from further afield. No fewer than five gauges are represented: 2ft, 3ft, 3ft 6in, 4ft and standard. All are displayed in immaculate condition, far removed from that in which they worked.
