Plandampf Werratal March 2015 Cancelled

    Announced Friday:
    Due to a repeat of the subsidence problems in the woods between Unterrohn and Oberrohn the Werratal Plandampf planned for March 2015 has had to be cancelled. The line will be closed in January to be assessed and even when reopened there is a possibility that heavy traffic will not be allowed - hence the cancellation.
    Regular freight which traverses this section will apparently be diverted via Oberhof. According to the announcement there is a chance that one or more of these may be steam hauled at some stage - for further information if/as and when it arises see the website:

    Got the same e-mail from the organisers. A shame as a crowd of us were going over for that. On the subject of cancellations, the February Plandapmpf based on Wolzstyn has also been cancelled due to insufficient support.
