WITH a clip of the scissors and a few jokes, pop impresario Peter Waterman officially unveiled Dalegarth’s revamped £500,000 train station this weekend.

Funded by the North West Development Agency, the station, near Boot, replaces a former second-hand army building which, until recently, served as the line’s terminal.

Mr Waterman was invited because of his long standing passion for steam trains, having collected and restored engines of his own.
