Portsmouth plans to celebrate famous son

    Portsmouth's most famous son, Isambard Kingdom Brunel, will have his 200th birthday celebrated in the city of his birth, Portsmouth council has today unveiled.

    Portsmouth is to play host to a series of events between April and July marking the engineer's birth. As well as interactive science shows, a play and talks by TV mathematician Johnny Ball, a monument to Brunel will be erected close to where he was born.
