I have been working on pulling together a browsable database of all preserved mainline standard gauge locomotives. I was wondering whether anybody has a comprehensive list and number? Below are the totals from each original company. There may well be a number of inaccuracies and therefore I would be very interested if anybody has better details!

    Great Western Railway: 130
    LMS: 60
    Southern Railway: 45
    British Railways: 42
    LNER: 18
    LBSCR: 12
    LSWR: 11
SECR; North Eastern Railway; Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway: 8
    LNWR: 7
GER; Midland Railway; Great Northern Railway: 5
    USATC: 4
Great Central Railway; Ministry of Supply; Caledonian Railway; North British Railway: 3
Metropolian Railway; Stockton & Darlington Railway; Liverpool & Manchester Railway; SDJWR; Taff Vale Railway; Furness Railway: 2
North London Railway; London, Tilbury & Southend Railway; North Staffordshire Railway; Grand Junction Railway; GSWR; Highland Railway; GNSR: 1

That gives a total of 399. Can anybody beat that?
