Press Release - Talyllyn Railway Has Award Winning Loos

Discussion in 'On Track.' started by Karen Willans, Nov 4, 2016.

The Talyllyn Railway has received two awards in the annual ‘Loo of the Year’ awards.

Entries to the awards are graded into four categories bronze, silver, gold and platinum. A gold award has been made to the toilets at Tywyn Wharf station, while the toilets at Abergynolwyn, which celebrated 25 years since they were opened this year, has been awarded the highest level platinum award.

The awards were first introduced 1987 and seek to raise standards on 'away from home' or public toilets, and are run by an independent organisation. It is now considered as 'the loo standard', and the awards are supported by the national tourism bodies of England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and Jersey.

Commenting on the awards the Talyllyn Railway’s General Manager Tracey Parkinson stated:

‘Providing first class facilities is essential in today’s tourism market, and it is therefore an accolade that the Talyllyn Railway has not one but two award winning toilets. This confirms our commitment to providing the highest standards for our passengers as borne witness by the comments that are made of forums such as ‘Trip Advisor’. However, we are continually looking for ways in which we can improve and so watch out for future developments.’

The awards will be formally presented at an event in December.
