Went to a PSOV show last night, the 2009 compilation shown was stunning. As it was here in Northwich the programme contained very little GW or SR coverage, no complaints there....
There was of course excellent footage of Scots Guardsman on Shap, The S&C and Beattock and some archive of her in 1965.
A few of Oliver Cromwell pushing Tangmere around, Tornado, the Panniers to Coalbrookdale. Great coverage of the Great Britain including 61994 having her problems, 6233 pounding up Shap, and to round it off, the Winter Cumbrian Mountain. So I invested in a copy of volume 2 to peruse at my leisure...
It had been commented that a year or two back the quality seemed to suffer, well it's back up to previous standards, if only other companies could produce work of this quality.

But don't you think that some of the very best work comes from those who post their work on YouTube? Ok, there is a lot of dross but a few can produce shots that beat the output of the commercial outfits hands down and it makes a real change to see cameras used properly and shots well framed and edited. Now, if they were to get together, an annual DVD from them could well be worth the sort of price charged by PSOV and the like...

To be fair to PSOV; I have to add that I haven't seen any of their output for some years. Perhaps they have improved in the interim but £25 to find out is too much of a gamble for me.

You are right of course there is some excellent stuff from some regular posters on Youtube, taking into account the available picture quality, and some terrible rubbish as well. It bugs me why some people will give 5* for a dodgy shot from a mobile phone.... And then you get a great shot from one of the regulars that can only be awarded the same rating.

It's because we in the railway filming youtube community are too nice, I'll agree that my footage isn't up to the standard of many regular posters but I still get comments saying 'Great Video 5*'
