NELPG have launched "Chip in for a cylinder" appeal to cover the cost of repairing or (perhaps more likely) replacing the right hand cylinder on Q6 No. 63395, which was badly damaged in an incident at Grosmont in May. 63395 had already run 2300 miles in NYMR services this year so its time out of traffic will be keenly felt - as the only standard gauge 0-8-0 tender engine currently working in the UK it is well suited to working the NYMR's heaviest trains.

The aim is to get 63395 back into working order within 18 months, and for it to be ready to take part in the Stockton & Darlington 200 celebrations in 2025, and to enable the best possible use to be made of its boiler certificate before it expires in 2028.

Via a generous benefactor, the first £10,000 raised will be match funded, £ for £. Excluding Gift Aid a £10 donation becomes £20!

Visit the NELPG web site for details of how to donate: https://nelpg.org.uk/index.php?opti...icle&id=2286:q6-appeal&catid=1:news&Itemid=53

Boiler ticket expires 2028 rather than 2025 according to the NELPG article.
