    Hi all,

    I need to know some information. I am a member of the Chester Model Railway Club and regularly attend the Monday night 'get together'.

    I'm in the middle of purchasing some 00 gauge stock and started to think what I could have. I was thinking of recreating a 00 gauge 'railtour' train.

    My question is what was the coaching stock used on these railtours in real life?? What you could be thinking is recreating the 15 Guinea Special!

    Any answers or queries, please feel free to reply to this message or send me a private message.

    Many Thanks
    Jeff

    You could construct one of the many Ian Allan Specials such as the Daffodil Express.

    Info on that and loads of others can be found on;

    In a way thats what I'm trying but re-construct a railtour called 'The Birkenhead Flyer' or 'The Zulu' which were 2 railtours organised by Ian Allan in 1967 which I believe ran from Paddington to Chester, Birkenhead and then back to Paddington via Wrexham & Shrewsbury.

    However, I have just found a book which has a colour picture of 1T57 with the whole coaching stock shown on it. This has now given me an idea of what a railtour in the late 60s consisted of.
