PEOPLE living near railway lines in Furness and South Lakeland can now enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep instead of being disturbed by the sound of train horns.

Westmorland and Lonsdale MP Tim Farron is claiming victory in the campaign to enforce a quieter period for trains during the night.

Mr Farron has been at the forefront of the campaign to stop horns being used between 11pm and 7am along the Lakes Line, Furness Line and the West Coast Mainline.
