HOPES of re-installing the Poulton to Fleetwood rail link are to get a much-needed boost next week.
A rail clearance machine will be mounted on the tracks at Thornton crossing on Monday and work its way down the line towards Burn Naze.

It is hoped the move will pave the way for the reopening of the mothballed Poulton to Fleetwood train line as a heritage and commuter route.

Track first for Wyre rail link

THE train now standing at Thornton Station is clearing the way for the future.
It might not be an intercity express, but this vehicle – the first on the tracks in almost a decade – marks a massive step in the battle to re-open the Poulton to Fleetwood rail line.
