    Passengers will have to wait two hours for trains between Lowestoft, Beccles, Ipswich and London until 2012 at the earliest, according to a senior Suffolk transport official.

    Pressure for better train service

    The idea of a “passing loop” for trains at Beccles Station was back in the limelight this week after the idea won support from consultants brought in by Suffolk County Council.

    The £3million-plus investment would mean trains on the Lowestoft-Ipswich-London line could pass at Beccles and allow the rail service to be stepped up to an hourly one.
