RAIL passengers are being put at risk at one of Greater Manchester's most popular stations, a transport expert has claimed.

Salford Crescent station, near the city's university, is the only central stop where passengers can catch a train to either Victoria or Piccadilly - thanks to the 750-yard Windsor Link which was built in the 1980s to connect Manchester's north-south rail divide.
