No I do not currently volunteer
Over the years, I've contributed many hundreds of words to this forum about railway legislation, usually to assist correct understanding (I hope!) to heritage line operations. It's occurred to me that I may be able to extend this knowledge (and experience) to assist those who volunteer, in gaining an understanding of just what is/is not applicable out there in the real world.

I spent 32 years in the BTP, serving all over the UK, including teaching criminal law and railway legislation at the BTP Police training school for a total of seven years. I'm an experienced lecturer/teacher, having spent the last 13 years teaching maritime law and management subjects at a Nautical Academy.

Here is the offer; I'm prepared to put together a package that I could deliver to groups of volunteers at any UK heritage railway, to help the understanding and sensible application of existing railway legislation (including your own bye-laws).

I would do this for free...yes FREE! Though reasonable petrol expenses and any accommodation costs would not be a big ask IMO. If anyone would like to discuss this further, feel free to PM me and we'll take it from there. Sessions would include a smattering of inter-personal skills training, lest everyone left thinking they can go out and rule the world!

This is one way I could get back into volunteering? :)

Yes I am an active volunteer
Sounds like a good idea to me and it may be possible to put something together, where there are clusters of heritage railways, to suit people from more than one.
