    Date: June 1959
    Location: Grantham
    Working: Northbound Passenger
Locos: Double-headed A2s 60533 'Happy Knight' and 60534 'Irish Elegance'

Did anyone else record this working? The exact date remains unconfirmed but a Saturday in June 1959 is the most likely as fits in with 60534 having being recently outshopped from Doncaster after general overhaul.

Double-headed A2 workings were apparently so rare that the author of "The Power of the A2s" - Gavin Morrison - never sighted a double-headed A2 train.
Another expert on A2s has advised me that a double-headed working would have exceeded the ECML weight restrictions at Newalk and it's possible one of the A2s might have failed earlier.

There were sufficient enthusiasts at Grantham that day to greet the appearance of a Scottish A2 with a mighty cheer; I just need the date.
