The operator of Paris Metro, RATP, and its Mexico City counterpart, Sistema De Transporte Collectivo (STC), have signed a technology share agreement designed to boost cooperation between the two cities.

RATP chief executive Pierre Mongin and STC managing director Joel Ortega Cuevas signed the formal agreement on April 11 during a state visit to Mexico by French President François Hollande.

RATP and STC signed an initial cooperation agreement in July 2013. This latest development extends the partnership to cover areas such as signalling and operations, managing operations and maintaining rolling stock, systems and infrastructures, rail track technology and maintenance, fixed facility technology and maintenance, automations and transport planning and ticketing.

Pierre Mongin said the agreement “makes it possible to strengthen the deep historic bonds between RATP and the Mexico City metro network”, adding: “The agreement will promote greater fulfilment of both companies’ expertise and know-how and will also enable RATP Group to know and appreciate the Mexican market more effectively. This is a market our group aims to expand in through its engineering and operations and maintenance subsidiaries.”
